Danbi Entertainment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the "Company") complies with the personal information protection provisions of the laws and regulations applicable to information and communications service providers, including the Protection of Communications Secrets Act, the Telecommunications Business Act, and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The Company publishes this Privacy Policy, established in accordance with the relevant laws, on its website (www.danbient.com) for the use of the game services it provides and the networks, websites and other services incidental thereto (hereinafter the "Services"), and does its utmost to protect the rights and interests of users.

Article 1. Personal information items collected

  1. When a user signs up for the Services, the Company collects the following personal information at the time of initial sign-up in order to provide its various services: the unique identification number provided by the platform operator's service, the user's name or nickname, the device unique number (device ID or IMEI), cookies, and the like.
  2. The following information may be generated and collected in the course of using the Services: user status information, date and time of visit, service usage records, records of improper use, cookies, and the like.
  3. Where unavoidably necessary for payment in the course of using free or paid services, credit card information, mobile carrier information, purchase history and gift certificate numbers, and other payment-related information may be collected. When a customer requests restoration or a refund of paid content, the Company may collect additional personal information such as an email address and purchase history confirmation details for smooth customer support, and — in order to verify a payment made by someone other than the account holder — the user's real name and proof of family relationship.
  4. The following information may be collected when a user accesses or uses services based on external platforms such as "KakaoTalk", "Facebook" or "Google+":
    • KakaoTalk: member identifier information (Kakao Game member number), profile photo/image and URL, profile name/nickname, Kakao friends list
    • Facebook: member identifier information, email (ID), profile photo, profile name
    • Google+: member identifier information, email (ID), profile photo, profile name
  5. When a user accesses or uses the game services through an external mobile platform such as "KakaoTalk", "Facebook" or "Google+", the user may be connected to "Apple Game Center" or "Google Play" depending on the platform of the mobile device used, and the relevant platform operator may separately collect the user's personal information in accordance with its own policy.
  6. Where age verification or identity verification is required under the relevant laws, encrypted duplicate-subscription verification information (DI) and identity verification information (CI) may be collected.

Article 2. Methods of collecting personal information

The Company collects personal information by the following methods.

  1. Automatic collection through platforms with which the Company has a partnership relating to the provision of the Services.
  2. Collection through the user's voluntary provision at sign-up or while using the Services.

Article 3. Purposes of collection and use of personal information

1. Provision of basic game features
Using the unique identification number of the user's account, the Company provides services such as inviting, gifting, recommending and viewing rankings among the user's friends as supplied by the platform operator. The Company may also collect and store the device unique number (device ID or UDID, IMEI) at sign-up and use it to determine whether the user's account is in good standing.

a. Performance of the contract for provision of the Services and settlement of fees arising therefrom

  • Provision of free or paid content, delivery of goods purchased or dispatch of invoices and the like, identity verification, purchase and payment of fees, and collection of fees

b. Member management

  • Identity verification in connection with the use of membership-based services, verification of users in connection with the provision of game services, personal identification, prevention of fraudulent and unauthorized use by improper members (members whose contract has been terminated due to a violation of Articles 6 through 13(1) of the Danbi Entertainment Game Service Terms of Use or other violations), confirmation of intent to subscribe, restriction on subscription and the number of subscriptions, retention of records for identity verification and dispute resolution, handling of complaints and other grievances, and delivery of notices.

c. Use for the development of new services and for marketing/advertising

  • Development of new services and provision of customized services, provision of services and placement of advertisements according to demographic characteristics, verification of the effectiveness of services, provision of event and promotional information and opportunities to participate, identification of access frequency, and statistics on members' use of the Services

Article 4. Sharing and provision of personal information

The Company uses users' personal information within the scope notified under "Purposes of collection and use of personal information", and in principle does not use it beyond that scope or disclose it externally without the user's prior consent. However, the Company may use and provide personal information with due care in the following cases.

a. Where users have consented to disclosure in advance: before collecting or providing information or entrusting its processing, the Company informs the user who its partner companies are and for how long and how the information will be protected and managed, and obtains the user's consent. If the user does not consent, the Company does not collect additional information or share it with partner companies. Where personal information is provided with the consent of users, the recipients and the purposes of use are as set out below.

Article 5. Recipients and purposes of use

The Company uses the personal information it collects for the following purposes.

a. Performance of the contract for provision of the Services and settlement of fees arising therefrom

  • Provision of content, delivery of goods or dispatch of invoices and the like, identity verification, purchase and payment of fees, and collection of fees

b. Member management

  • Identity verification in connection with the use of membership-based services and the limited identity verification system, personal identification, prevention of fraudulent and unauthorized use by improper members (members whose contract has been terminated due to a violation of Articles 6 through 13(1) of the Danbi Entertainment Game Service Terms of Use or other violations), confirmation of intent to subscribe, restriction on subscription and the number of subscriptions, retention of records for dispute resolution, handling of complaints and other grievances, and delivery of notices.

Article 6. Retention and use period of personal information

In principle, a user's personal information is destroyed without delay once the purposes of its collection and use have been achieved. However, the following information is retained for the periods stated below for the reasons given.

a. Grounds for retention under the Company's internal policy

  • Records of improper use and duplicate-subscription verification information (reason for retention: prevention of improper use; retention period: 1 year)

b. Grounds for retention under the relevant laws
Where retention is required under the provisions of related laws such as the Commercial Act and the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Company retains member information for the period prescribed by those laws. In such cases the Company uses the retained information solely for the purpose of that retention, and the retention periods are as follows.

  • Records on contracts or withdrawal of offers (reason: Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce; period: 5 years)
  • Records on payment and the supply of goods (reason: Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce; period: 5 years)
  • Records on consumer complaints or dispute handling (reason: Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce; period: 3 years)
  • Records on identity verification (reason: Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection; period: 6 months)
  • Records on visits (reason: Protection of Communications Secrets Act; period: 3 months)

Article 7. Procedure and method of destroying personal information

In principle, a user's personal information is destroyed without delay once the purposes of its collection and use have been achieved. The Company's destruction procedure and method are as follows.

a. Destruction procedure

  • Information entered by a user for purposes such as signing up for the Services is, once its purpose has been achieved, moved to a separate database, stored for a certain period in accordance with the Company's internal policy and other grounds for information protection under the relevant laws (see "Retention and use period"), and then destroyed.
  • Such personal information is not used for any purpose other than that for which it is retained, except as required by law.

b. Destruction method

  • Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration.
  • Personal information stored in electronic file form is deleted using a technical method that makes the records irrecoverable.

Article 8. Rights of users and legal representatives and how to exercise them

  • Users and legal representatives may at any time view or amend the registered personal information of themselves or of a child under the age of 14 through the platform operator or app store operator, and may request termination of the Services by logging out of and deleting the application.
  • To view or amend the personal information of a user or a child under the age of 14, the user may click "Delete account" through the platform operator or app store operator to directly access, correct or withdraw. However, where the user wishes to check personal information that the Company does not hold, the user must be able to verify their identity by comparing the information recorded with the Company against the subscription details and personal information provided by the platform operator or app store operator through which the Company provides the game services.
  • Where a user requests correction of an error in their personal information, the Company will not use or provide the personal information concerned until the correction is complete. If incorrect personal information has already been provided to a third party, the Company will notify the third party of the result of the correction without delay so that the correction is carried out.
  • Personal information terminated or deleted at the request of a user or legal representative is processed as specified in "Retention and use period of personal information" and is handled so that it cannot be accessed or used for any other purpose.

Article 9. Installation and operation of automatic personal information collection devices, and refusal thereof

  • The Company uses "cookies", which store and retrieve user information from time to time, in order to provide users with customized services.
  • A cookie is a small amount of information sent to your browser by the server used to operate the Danbi Entertainment site, and it may also be stored on the hard disk of the user's PC.
  • In order to provide more convenient services, the Company uses cookies to analyse visits, access patterns and access times for each service on the sites that users visit.
  • Users have the right to choose whether cookies are installed.
  • Accordingly, a user may allow all cookies, be prompted each time a cookie is stored, or refuse the storage of all cookies via "Tools > Internet Options > Privacy" at the top of the web browser (in the case of Internet Explorer). However, if a user refuses to store cookies, services that require login cannot be used.
  • The Company may automatically collect the device identification number (device ID or UDID, IMEI) when a user launches the application for the game services, in order to create account information. It may also automatically collect the unique identification number from the platform user and the unique identification numbers associated with the friends list, in order to provide basic features such as adding and recommending friends.
  • If these unique identification numbers or device identification numbers are not collected automatically, game services such as inviting friends and sending gifts cannot be provided properly, and the user will therefore be unable to use the Company's game services normally.

Article 10. Technical and administrative measures for the protection of personal information

In processing users' personal information, the Company takes the following technical and administrative measures to ensure security so that personal information is not lost, stolen, leaked, altered or damaged.

a. Measures against hacking and the like

  • The Company does its utmost to prevent members' personal information from being leaked or damaged by hacking, computer viruses and the like. It backs up data from time to time in preparation for damage to personal information, prevents users' personal information and data from being leaked or damaged, and enables personal information to be transmitted securely over networks through encrypted communications and other means. The Company also controls unauthorized external access using an intrusion prevention system, and endeavours to equip itself with every possible technical device to secure the system.

b. Minimizing and training the staff who handle personal information

  • The Company limits the staff who handle personal information to designated personnel, grants them separate passwords that are updated regularly, and constantly emphasizes compliance with the Danbi Entertainment Privacy Policy through frequent training for those personnel.

c. Operation of a dedicated personal information protection body

  • Through an in-house body dedicated to personal information protection and other means, the Company verifies the implementation of the Danbi Entertainment Privacy Policy and compliance by the personnel concerned, and endeavours to correct and rectify any problem found immediately. However, the Company accepts no liability for problems arising from the leakage of personal information caused by the user's own negligence or by reasons other than the Company's intent or gross negligence.

d. Contact details of the personal information protection officer and staff

  • You may report any grievance relating to personal information protection arising while using the Company's services to the personal information protection officer or the department in charge. The Company will respond promptly and fully to users' reports.

Article 11. Duty of notification

Where there is any addition to, deletion from or amendment of this Privacy Policy, the Company will give notice on its website (www.danbient.com) or by individual notice at least 7 days before the effective date (and, for changes to material matters such as the collection and use of personal information or provision to third parties, from 30 days before the effective date). If you do not raise an objection notwithstanding such notice, you will be deemed to have consented to the change.
